Inside Origin Fitness' China Supplier Visit

Inside Origin Fitness' China Supplier Visit

At the end of 2025, our Origin Fitness Product team travelled to China once again to visit a number of our manufacturing partners. The purpose of the trip was to strengthen relationships, gain deeper insight into our manufacturing processes, and ensure we continue to meet the high standards our customers expect.

Over seven days, the team visited five locations across the country, combining factory audits, product development discussions, and quality reviews with a deeper understanding of the regions and industries that support our supply chain.

Why Visit Our Suppliers?

While regular communication and quality checks are part of our everyday processes, nothing compares to being on the ground. Visiting our suppliers allows us to:

  • Gain deeper insight into manufacturing processes
  • Ensure our quality standards are consistently met
  • Discuss new product developments face-to-face
  • Build stronger, long-term partnerships

These visits are a vital part of ensuring that our equipment continues to meet the expectations of our customers.

During the trip, our team toured multiple production facilities, observing every stage of the manufacturing process – from raw materials and welding, to finishing, assembly and final quality inspections.

Guangzhou & Foshan: Flooring and Cardio Manufacturing

The trip began in Guangzhou, where we visited one of our flooring manufacturing partners. The focus here was a full factory audit, reviewing practices, processes, and ongoing development projects. It was impressive to see how raw materials are transformed into a wide variety of flooring solutions, with a clear emphasis on detail, consistency, and care at every stage of production. We also toured a newly expanded warehousing facility, enabling greater stockholding capacity to support future growth.

A short journey to nearby Foshan followed, where we met with one of our HIIT cardio equipment suppliers. In addition to reviewing their manufacturing, assembly, and quality control processes, we were introduced to several new product concepts currently in development. The visit provided valuable insight into their wider capabilities across both cardio and strength equipment.

Beijing, Tianjin & Shijiazhuang: Exploring New Opportunities

After two days in the south, the team flew north to Beijing before travelling to the Binhai area. Here, we visited a prospective padel court supplier to assess their manufacturing standards, packaging processes, and overall product quality. This was an important step in evaluating a new category for the Origin Fitness portfolio.

Returning briefly to Beijing, we then travelled by train to Tianjin and on to Dezhou, where one of our Pilates reformer partners is based. This visit offered our first look at their facilities and operations, along with valuable insight into their supply chain and the local manufacturing ecosystem within the province.

Following a night in Tianjin, the team returned to Beijing for a well-deserved break over the weekend. The team took in landmarks such as Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Summer Palace, while also sampling local favourites including zhajiangmian, jiaozi, and a guided tea tasting. Evenings were spent unwinding around the lively Houhai Lake area.

The following Monday, the journey continued to Shijiazhuang, where we visited another potential padel supplier. Here, we toured both turf and steel production facilities, further expanding our understanding of the manufacturing capabilities within this sector.

Qingdao: Product Development and Key Partnerships

An early flight on Tuesday took the team to Qingdao. The first visit focused on reviewing samples and production processes for several key products, including the Alpha 3-in-1 machine, alongside upcoming studio plates and landmine attachment samples.

We then visited another long-standing manufacturing partner responsible for our urethane weight plates. Seeing the full process from raw materials through to finished plates reinforced the level of precision and consistency required to produce high-quality strength equipment.

Wednesday was spent with one of our most important steel manufacturing partners, who play a crucial role in delivering the racks and rigs our customers rely on. Alongside a full factory tour, including newly developed areas, the team tested samples from several new product developments, providing hands-on feedback directly to the manufacturer. The day concluded with a visit to the Tsingtao Beer Museum, offering a glimpse into Qingdao’s history and its connection to China’s most famous beer.

Visiting Impulse: Innovation at Scale

On Thursday, the team visited Impulse, a key partner and industry leader. Their new factory was remarkable in both scale and sophistication. From advanced machinery and extensive manpower to highly automated warehousing systems using robotic picking technology, the operation showcased efficiency at every level.

We followed the journey from raw sheet metal through to fully assembled strength and cardio equipment, gaining insight into their rigorous testing and quality control processes. The visit also included a tour of their showroom, displaying the full product range, and a meeting with their extensive R&D team to discuss innovation and future development.

Looking Ahead

The trip concluded with Impulse kindly dropping the team at the airport for the journey home- bringing to an end a fast-paced but invaluable week.

Visiting our suppliers in person remains a crucial part of how we operate at Origin Fitness. These trips allow us to maintain close relationships, ensure quality at every stage, and continue developing products that meet the evolving needs of our customers. We return from China with renewed confidence in our partners and excitement for what’s ahead.
