Treadmill Types
Folding Treadmill: If you are thinking of purchasing a treadmill for home use, a folding treadmill might be right for you. They are perfect for when space is limited such as a home office where their folding design makes floor space count. Our Origin Alpha Treadmill is one of the best on the market and includes 40 workout programs ensuring an optimal cardio workout.
Curved Treadmill: The design of a curved treadmill offers a more realistic running experience that some say is more optimal for performance. It requires greater demand on the body as momentum is used to propel the running deck forward. The DaxFit+ Curved Treadmill is designed for effortless movement by promoting running on the balls of your feet which reduces joint impact, improves performance, and has a zero maintenance requirement belt system. Our Origin Storm Curved Treadmill is another great option offering improved impact absorption, features four resistance levels, and has multiple training programs.
Commercial Treadmill: Commercial gyms typically go for these treadmills as they can withstand higher use and include even more features than standard models. The Impulse RT950 Treadmill is a great example of an advanced running machine featuring an impressive 18.5” Touch Screen Display with virtual scenery, is Wi-Fi enabled, has TV/Music connectivity, and a 3-speed fan.
Treadmill Buying Tips
When it comes to picking the right treadmill there are a few points to consider:
Available Space: Ensure there is enough room for the treadmill in the desired space. There is nothing worse than it arriving and not fitting properly. Additionally, make sure there is enough room to get on and off easily and have an appropriate power socket nearby.
Features and Programmes: Another aspect to consider is how many features are needed. Serious athletes may want more features than someone planning to only use their treadmill a few times a month. Typically, as the price increases the number of built-in programs and apps also increases which can improve the running experience.
Cushioning Capability: Make sure the treadmill being purchased has appropriate cushioning as this will ensure joints are well protected decreasing injury risk. Having good levels of cushioning across each impact zone on the deck provides maximum comfort, stability and support when running allowing users to maximise training.
Incline and Speed Options: For light use or walking then a basic model is all that may be needed but for greater variety, it’s worth considering looking at models which offer more incline ranges of 0 - 15% with top speeds of at least 25km/h (15 mph).
