The Objective

To meet the objectives of the staff at Keavil House, Origin Fitness needed to provide a detailed proposal which focussed around incorporating the latest gym equipment into the available space.

Gym Design and Planning

One key design change which was implemented was the creation of more distinct zoning by bringing all the free weights equipment into a designated section which is partially separated from the main gym floor by a wall. In some gym environments there can be real improvements to member satisfaction amongst certain demographics by separating the cardio zone from the "intimidating" free weights equipment.

The new layout also set out to create a more flexible space by ensuring every square inch wasn’t crammed with equipment but there were areas where people could exercise on the floor and trainers could even run group sessions.

Our new layout allows us to offer group sessions in the gym which has been very successful.

There is also more room available where we are able to offer space for floor exercises. Our weights section is more contained in the one area which has proved very successful.

Choosing the Right Gym Equipment

To meet the health club’s requirement for top quality equipment Origin Fitness installed Star Trac Fitness cardio equipment with embedded HD screens. The health club was fitted out with E-TRxe Treadmills, e-Spinners and the highest spec Star Trac cross trainers and exercise bikes. The club boasts a small fixed resistance zone within the gym, which is fitted with leg press, leg extension, leg curl and lat pulldown machines from Star Trac’s premium Inspiration range as well as an excellent Human Sport arm curl/crunch station.

In the free weights area the club have installed a Max Rack, to try and increase the number of beginners using the area and to ensure they are doing so safely. To complement this, they gym has a full range of Jordan dumbbells and plates, as well as an Impulse Sterling Power Rack to top it off.

Origin Fitness have been excellent in arranging the new gym layout. Working closely with us in selecting choice of equipment suitable for our club and also for keeping us updated with progress of installation. They are also available for any small problems which can arise and are very quick to have these rectified.

I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone looking for a new gym. The accounts manager’s product knowledge was excellent and he was very helpful when selecting the equipment. I would not hesitate to contact him at any time for his invaluable help and support.
