The challenge:
As a company built around enhancing mobility and independence, CareCo understands better than most the importance of staying active. Their products help customers move more freely every day, so it was only natural for them to champion the same philosophy within their own workforce. With this in mind, CareCo approached Origin to create a staff gym that would inspire movement and reflect the company’s core purpose.
Corporate gyms are rapidly becoming one of the most valued workplace perks,
with 80% of employees reporting higher morale and 70% greater job satisfaction from wellness initiatives (Gitnux, 2024)
As part of a full HQ renovation, CareCo approached Origin with the ambition to create a staff gym that would rival a commercial facility and deliver all the benefits of an on‑site fitness space.
The layout, however, presented a unique challenge. The space included a long, narrow corridor - far from a traditional gym footprint. For Account Manager Rory, the task was to transform this unconventional space into a functional, motivating environment that catered to a wide range of training styles.
Fortunately, Origin’s experience in maximising awkward or compact spaces meant we were well‑placed to deliver a smart, efficient solution.
The solution:
Rory’s design of the CareCo space focussed on utilising equipment that would offer maximum versatility within the limited footprint and unconventional corridor space.
Dual‑use fixed resistance machines were selected to provide a broad range of strength‑training options without overwhelming the space. Stair climbers were introduced as a key cardio feature - chosen not only for their popularity but also for their ability to attract a different demographic of users, encouraging wider engagement across the workforce.
For the main cardio zone, the Impulse R970 range was chosen to enhance the user experience through interactive screens. These allow staff to follow built‑in training programmes or connect to apps such as YouTube, making longer cardio sessions more enjoyable and engaging.
The outcome:
The response from CareCo staff has been overwhelmingly positive. The carefully selected equipment mix ensures that both beginners and experienced gym‑goers can train confidently and effectively. From the first enquiry through to design, site visits, and final installation, the process has been smooth, collaborative, and efficient resulting in a high‑quality staff gym that delivers real value to the business.
