Free weights are great for a few reasons. They can be used for compound movements and as an accessory to target individual muscle groups. Incremental weight options allow a more tailored approach to training to take place making it easier to increase strength. They can also be used to stabilise muscles, fix imbalances, and increase muscle mass. Compared to strength machines, cable machines, or fixed resistance stations, they are more flexible enabling users to replicate natural bodily movements more closely.
Types of Free Weights
Dumbbells: No free weights zone is complete without a set of dumbbells. They are one of the most popular pieces of gym equipment in modern fitness spaces as they can be used in a variety of workouts and make it easy to increase strength due to the small incremental increases between dumbbell pairs. Dumbbells allow members to build strength, muscle, stamina, and endurance. We currently stock a wide range of hex, rubber, urethane, adjustable dumbbells, dumbbell sets, and dumbbell storage options.
Olympic Barbells: Crucial to any free-weight zone, quality Olympic barbells are a must. We have 20kg barbells, 15kg barbells, utility barbells, and a range of barbell storage options as well. Our barbells comply with IWF standards for those looking to compete. Having a mix of each type is the best way to offer members the best experience in the gym. 20kg barbells are standard in most gyms whereas 15kg barbells are a great starting point for members looking to perfect form with a lighter load. Utility barbells like hex bars, powerlifting bars, and crossbars have more specific uses but are always a good option to have on-site to cover all training bases.
Weight Plates: Those new barbells will require additional weight plates if members are going to start increasing their strength. Our range includes a wide range of Olympic weight plates, bumper plates, competition plates, and technique plates. If you require more information about each type we have more information on each specific page. Our weight plates also come in sets and have many storage options to keep everything neatly stored.
Kettlebells: Kettlebells are a versatile free-weight option that is no longer relegated to just an afterthought in modern gyms. With the explosion of functional training like CrossFit, HIIT, and Hyrox, kettlebells are proving more popular than ever, especially since they can be swung, lifted, and curled. Our range includes cast iron, rubber, urethane, and competition styles.
Fixed Barbells: Fixed Barbells are a great way to progress into weight training if you don't want to tinker with a utility barbell and weight plate option. They come in a one-piece design making them easier to use as the user doesn’t have to worry about changing weight plates to increase or decrease the resistance faced. These are a great option for supersetting during arm workouts. We offer rubber, urethane, and sets.
Free Weight Storage: Whether it's for dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, or weight plates we have a wide range of storage options to keep your free weights secure. We currently offer a range of 2-tier and 3-tier options as well as wall-mounted, vertical, and single-sided storage options to keep gym equipment secure. We’re sure to have a solution to suit any facility’s needs.
