The challenge:
Luke Greenslade had a clear vision for Slade Fitness: a premium training facility in Sevenoaks that felt genuinely welcoming - somewhere members of all abilities could train seriously, with access to top-quality coaching and equipment, without it feeling intimidating.
The challenge was both practical and commercial. The space needed to work hard, accommodating personal training sessions and group classes simultaneously, without either feeling like an afterthought. The equipment mix had to be versatile enough to support a wide range of training styles, while the layout had to make the most of every square metre.
Luke needed more than a supplier. He needed a partner who could help him think through the design from the ground up, make smart equipment decisions that suited the space and his members, and see the whole project through to a successful opening.
One of Slade's core operational needs was the ability to run personal training sessions and group classes at the same time, without either experience being compromised. The layout was built around that requirement, with dedicated zones configured so PTs always have a guaranteed space with clients while group sessions run in parallel, and the two never get in each other's way.
Each training zone was positioned deliberately, giving the gym a clear sense of structure and flow without feeling rigid or segmented. Storage was integrated throughout, keeping the floor tidy and sessions running smoothly.
Tom drew on his product knowledge and genuine understanding of how the space would be used to recommend an equipment mix that matched Luke's training philosophy and the needs of his members. Strength, cardio, and functional training are all covered in full, with equipment selected to support both coached sessions and independent training across a wide range of abilities.
Every recommendation was made with the member experience in mind, ensuring the gym could deliver on Luke's promise of a professional, welcoming environment from day one.
Once the design was signed off and every piece confirmed, our team managed delivery and installation from start to finish. Every zone was set up to spec and ready before the doors opened so that Luke could focus on welcoming his first members, not managing logistics.
The outcome:
Since opening, Slade Fitness has grown into exactly the community hub Luke envisioned. Member feedback has been overwhelmingly positive - the gym is praised consistently for its welcoming atmosphere and the quality and variety of equipment.
The design decisions made during the planning stage are delivering in practice. PT sessions and group classes run simultaneously without the space ever feeling crowded or compromised which is exactly what the layout was built to achieve. Members have reported real progress through both individual and group training, and the sense of community and camaraderie Slade Fitness has built is becoming one of its strongest differentiators in a competitive local market.
Tom has stayed in close contact with Luke since the doors opened and we're ready to support Slade Fitness as they continue to grow.
