Western Baths Flooring Case Study

Western Baths, Flooring Case Study

Glasgow’s Western Baths Club is a Victorian era private swimming and leisure club founded in 1876. As well as the original swimming pool and Turkish and Russian Baths there are two saunas, a sports hall and fitness suite. The club remains a popular local business today with over 2500 members and a waiting list. In addition, the grand Western Baths building was recently awarded A-Listed status by Historic Scotland.

As well as working with Origin Fitness to upgrade their fitness suite, Western Baths enlisted our expertise to improve their studio and sports hall facilities.

In 2015, the club worked alongside Origin Fitness to resurface their aerobics studio and main 435m2 sports hall.

The aerobics studio installation involved the laying of a fibreglass sheet underlay to ensure the floor was perfectly level. Using a specialist sports flooring, with wood effect, the top surface was then installed.

This sports hall project saw the first UK installation of LH Haus flooring system. The cushioned solution has been designed for the most demanding sports conditions and is compliant with the international standards for competitive badminton, basketball, volleyball and handball.

Testimonial

The Western Baths Club is a facility associated with historical values and survives solely on ‘word of mouth’ and ‘member referrals’. Over recent years ‘The Baths’ have developed the gym and has installed the latest equipment and visual systems to improve the gym user experience.

Origin Fitness has provided exceptional service. Not only has the promise of delivery on a timely basis been fulfilled but a backup service on call outs and repairs has exceeded expectations. ‘The Baths’ will continue to meet the changing needs and expectations of our club members with the support of Origin Fitness.
