THE SOLUTION:

Working together over the years, we have achieved amazing results with different projects. Below are a couple of sites that stood out:

Tryst Sports Centre

Tryst Sports Centre was the first of 12 sites to be refurbished by Origin Fitness back in 2014. 4 years on and the gym was ready for another refresher. With the help of Origin Fitness, they re-opened their doors to the exciting new gym facilities in June 2018.

The highlight of this installation was the functional training zone, placed against the back of the room. It was clearly defined by the Sprint Track running along the length of it, as well as the LED strip lights and Modular Storage Rig hosting a large range of accessories.

Adjacent to the rig, Origin Fitness created a HIIT cardio zone with enough equipment to offer members the chance to take part in group circuit training sessions. The lifting space maintained its purpose but received an overhaul. It now boasts space-saving inlaid platforms, the same High-Impact Flooring Tiles and Origin Elite Half Racks, completed with Origin Coloured Urethane Bumper Plates for a colourful performance zone.

To complete the elite area, all the lifting bars come from Origin Fitness's Competition Weightlifting range, ensuring members have the right tools to lift safely and effectively.

Aquatec Motherwell Gym

The Motherwell Aquatec gym is one of the Trust’s busiest facilities and after the success of the preceding refurbishment, the expectations from both the client and facility members were high.

The Aquatec fitness suite is unique in that it takes almost a bowl shape, with a single large open gym which has a sunken floor in the centre. The designs that Origin Fitness proposed made use of the large open space to incorporate a variety of different zones into the gym whilst seamlessly integrating these to encourage users to cross over and utilise all of the equipment types on offer. These zones include a main cardio area and a smaller secondary cardio space, a functional training space, a free weights zone and a strength training area.

Wishaw Sports Centre Fitness Suite

While the self-contained free weights suite and dedicated cycle studio were both redesigned and equipped with the latest kit the industry has to offer, the monumental change for this gym was the transformation of an indoor five-a-sides hall into the main fitness suite.

The gym design for Wishaw Sports Centre adopts a very open-planned, zoned layout. The new and exciting centrepiece of the facility is the large functional training zone. This is focussed on a custom-built functional training rig, defined using a specialist gym floor tile to cover this area, featuring custom branding and functional markings.

The area closest to the entrance could be considered the cardio zone, although the treadmills run almost the full length of the gym. On the opposite wall, there is a cable strength area which runs into the strength zone at the far end of the main fitness suite. Within this area, there is a wide variety of resistance machines as well as a small selection of Free Weights to supplement the separate free weights room.

The functional, stretching, and free weights spaces are equipped with the high-quality Origin Fitness ranges as well as a few other specialist brands such as TRX and Cross Core suspension trainers.

NLL - Power Studio

Working with the team at North Lanarkshire Leisure we were able to introduce popular boutique group PT classes by converting an under-utilised space into a new Boutique training studio.

Incorporating the latest HIIT Cardio equipment such as Draxfit Curved Treadmills, Air Bikes and Aqua Bags allowed a simple yet effective training studio to be created.

Along one wall, we supplied a half-height Modular Storage Rig which maximises floor space and offers quick and easy storage solutions for the functional accessories within the room, including Kettlebells, Slam Balls and Boxing Gloves.

Airdrie Leisure Centre

As part of North Lanarkshire Leisure's partnership with Origin Fitness, December 2017 saw the major refurbishment of Airdrie Leisure Centre. The North Lanarkshire Leisure (NLL) team opted for an ambitious redesign and development of the fitness offering within the facility.

Sectioned into traditional cardio and strength, functional training, free weight and plate-loaded strength, the gym floor has taken on a defined zone layout to make finding the right piece of equipment easy even at peak times.

Offering members the latest technology, 19 pieces of the latest Star Trac 8 Series Cardio Equipment were installed. This gave members a 15" interactive touch screen from which they can control their workout, entertainment and upload their training progress to a host of fitness apps.

In addition to this fleet of traditional cardio machines, Origin Fitness supplied another 19 pieces of alternative cardio equipment, including the highly popular Speedfit Curved Treadmill, Stairmaster HIIT Cardio Equipment, a Jacob's Ladder and a Versa Climber.

Against the back wall of the strength zone, a specialist functional training area was installed, completed with a bespoke performance rig branded with North Lanarkshire Leisure's brand colours. This zone is identifiable by its red high-impact flooring. Functional accessories such as the Origin Multi-sided Plyo Boxes, Origin Cast Iron Kettlebells, Boxing Bag and Gloves, and Origin Medicine Balls are also found within this zone.

THE OUTCOME:

After years of working together over different sites, we helped the NLL achieve their goals of bringing accessible and affordable fitness to their members and changing lives. It is rewarding to see the results from years of collaborating with the team, and we hope all those who visit any of the sites will benefit from the gym design and equipment installed.

 

My experience working with Origin Fitness is very positive; there is always an element of flexibility from the beginning of the process right up until installation, meaning that changes can be made throughout to create the best possible end result. I find that Origin really listens to us as a customer, taking on all staff feedback in creating a clear vision of what we are looking to achieve.
