The Gym Division 160kg Olympic Plate Set are durable and have a triple handle design for improve handling. This set of Olympic weight lates has a cast iron inner core with black rubber coating which protects them from potential damage. The Gym Division Rubber Olympic Weight Plates have a cast iron inner core with black rubber coating. This makes the plates durable for any exercise you wish to use them in. These Olympic weight plates have a triple handle design which allows for improved grip and greater handling. This design also allows easy access to grip the plates when putting on, or taking off, the bar.
Due to the varying diameters of these weight plates, they should not be used in exercise in which the bar, and/or weight plates are dropped, or lowered to the floor in a less than controlled manner. For exercises like these we recommend Bumper Weight Plates as they have the same diameter, and therefore will disperse the force of impact evenly, reducing the risk of damaging.
Make sure you purchase the correct barbell for your free weights as Olympic weight plates are designed to work with Olympic bars. These bars are stronger in design than a standard barbell with larger sleeves which allows them to accommodate more weight and higher pressure loads. This is why Olympic weight plates have a 2” diameter hole in the centre to fit compared with the 1" found on standard weight plates.
If left exposed to the elements in say a cold garage, traditional cast iron Olympic plates would rust, however the rubber coating on these Olympic Plates provides an additional protective layer mitigating this risk.
