The Origin Fitness headquarters continue to expand with the recent recruitment of two apprentices through a newly adopted modern apprenticeship scheme.
In recent months Ben Neilson (19) and Hannah Aird (18), both recent graduates from Kinross High School, have joined the Product Design and the Order Fulfilment departments respectively. While building on their experience within the Origin Fitness offices, Ben and Hannah will continue to work on their qualifications through QA Apprenticeships.
Origin Fitness worked with QA earlier this year to find several young individuals who were looking to expand their experience within the workplace taking on an exciting role within a growing company.
Ben has had previous work experience, but his enrolment in the programme has allowed him to focus on his passion for digital design. Already interested in fitness, and taking pride in playing for his local amateur football team, he quickly felt at home at Origin Fitness.
"I can only praise Origin Fitness as they have made my work experience here extremely enjoyable – I have loved every minute I have worked here as every single employee made me feel so welcome. They are all interested and supportive of my life out of work, each one helping me overcome obstacles in and out of the workplace."
-Ben Neilson, Product Design Apprentice
Hannah has only graduated from high school this year and her eagerness to get started in the workplace, as well as her love for sport (show jumping in particular), won her the apprenticeship position in the order fulfilment team.
"I attended the interview at Origin Fitness the day after I enrolled with QA. I got offered the position at Origin Fitness the next following day so the process was very quick for me. It is fantastic to have secured an opportunity which matched my interests in such a positive working environment."

Encouraging Continued Development
Already an Investors in People qualified employer, Origin Fitness is committed to supporting and developing its employees. As well as the apprenticeship scheme, Origin Fitness currently supports three further employees in completing Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ &SVQF) to ensure personal development within the workforce as well as to continually improve the levels of service offered throughout the company.
Origin Fitness recognises this need for continued professional development for its clients as well as within the business itself. We run a range of Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses from our Edinburgh Training Academy. These courses allow individuals within the fitness industry to continue to build on their knowledge, run successful fitness enterprises and offer a better service to the end users and customers in the marketplace.
"Attitude is everything when it comes to finding the right employee nowadays. Employers are looking for people with positive, get-up-and-go attitudes, who want to learn and develop their skills. We can offer them the chance to build experience and expand their skillset, but what you can’t teach people is that internal drive. We’ve been blown away by the ability and potential in the apprentices that we have hired and also met during the process."
