Origin Fitness, the Edinburgh based fitness equipment provider has secured an exciting new £2.5m banking facility with HSBC.

After continued company growth in the UK, and new distribution partnerships being formed overseas, Origin Fitness identified a need to seek new investment.

Paul Bodger, Managing Director, said: “This investment secures our future expansion plans for the company, of which the UK, Europe and Middle East are a key focus. It allows us to increase our stock and double our warehousing at HQ, in order to become one of Europe’s largest commercial fitness stock holdings. It will also be allocated towards research & development of new products and an increase in staffing across key divisions during 2017.”

Commenting, Nigel Kerr, Relationship Director at HSBC in Scotland, said: “We were impressed with the aspirations of Origin Fitness and are happy to provide finance that will help Origin Fitness realise its international ambitions as well as invest in research & development and staffing.”

Founded in 2008 as Anytime Leisure by Paul Bodger, Jonny Curley and Josh Bicknell, and renamed Origin Fitness in 2016, the company recently welcomed a milestone fiftieth staff member.

This investment will see further growth in stock holding and key departments.  Departments such as Product Design, Customer Service, Order Fulfillment and Sales and Marketing will all be developed during a five-year plan with a close focus on the Investors in People employer status and ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 accreditations.

A key point of difference at Origin Fitness is to carry stock within UK in order to provide customers with better service levels and shorter lead times, and the increased infrastructure to team and warehousing is in place to support that.

Exhibiting for the first time at annual FIBO Expo in Cologne, Germany, the Leading International Trade Fair for Fitness, Wellness and Health, Origin Fitness will be presenting its portfolio of products to over 153,000 visitors from across the globe.

Exporting into Europe having been a focus over the past twelve months has led to relationships with key agents and distributors in over a dozen countries, as well as with such recognised customers as Holmes Place in Germany and Austria. As part of the expansion strategy, FIBO 2017 presents the ideal opportunity to meet with both new and existing customers.

Origin Fitness can be found in Hall 9, Stand B22 at FIBO EXPO 2017, Cologne, Germany. 6-9 April
